Providing the Best
Care for You and Your Baby
speech pathologist, lactation consultant, and proud owner of Leong Lactation.
Before Leong Lactation, I spent my entire career specializing in infant feeding disorders at the #1 Children’s Hospital in the nation, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I had the opportunity to work in a variety of different areas including hematology/oncology, hospital medicine, trach/vent, inpatient rehabilitation, and cardiology.
Through my work with infant feeding, I discovered my passion in helping moms along their feeding journey and decided to further my education with training as a Certified Lactation Counselor.
I have years of expertise in infant feeding and development and find great joy in bringing encouragement and guidance to families caring for their infants.
I live in central Cincinnati with my husband, two year old daughter, and sweet pup Bobo. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, discovering new gluten-free restaurants, and salsa dancing!

FAQ
Speech pathologists are trained specialists in feeding and swallowing. With extensive education in the anatomy, physiology, and neurology of the head and neck, they understand how the body not only forms speech sounds but also how to eat and swallow.
Not all lactation consultants have the training and certification to properly assess oral motor structure and function, so you will want to make sure that your LC knows what to look for when diagnosing any concerns, such as ties (tethered oral tissues) for example.
- Individualized support for improving latch and positioning to optimize feeding and parent-child bonding.
- Expert guidance with bottle feeding
- Skilled expertise for optimizing feeding schedules and promoting optimal oral motor development
- Support for transition from breast or bottle feeding to early cup and spoon feeding as well as introducing new textures of foods
I have a unique set of skills and expertise with extensive experience in interprofessional collaboration. I am happy to collaborate with other providers and refer out as indicated. For example, I will share a copy of your report with the pediatrician if desired and work with them to consider if referrals to subspecialties are needed.
In order to provide the best possible care tailored to your individual needs, any advice or recommendations will require an appointment. Similar to another medical office visit, scheduling an appointment will be required to answer any questions specifically related to your baby.

"grateful for her steady presence"
“With my second son, Sarah has been a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and peace as I’ve been able to exclusively nurse him! Any question I’ve had regarding latching, nipple pain, positioning, baby swallowing, etc., Sarah has answered with solutions that have empowered me in my feeding! I’m so grateful for her steady presence and guidance as I’m navigating feeding my boys! I don’t know what I would do without her!”

“After her visit, I felt confident”
“Sarah came to my house for a lactation consultation with my first baby. There can be so many unexpected fears and challenges with breastfeeding, especially with your first baby, but Sarah eased so many anxieties I had with her care and support. She spoke to all of my questions and offered such gracious care. After her visit, I felt confident in my baby’s latch and that she was getting full! Sarah’s presence was so genuine and brought peace in what can feel like a stressful time those first few weeks of breastfeeding. So thankful for her wisdom and loving care!”

"You will not find a kinder soul"
“Sarah helped me during such a vulnerable time of my life. Nursing was HARD. It really hurt and I had no idea what to do. I really wanted to breastfeed my baby so I called Sarah to see if she could help. She was gentle, kind, and very professional. She taught me how to bring down my milk and different feeding positions, which really helped. I love that she came to my house so I could learn in an environment that I felt comfortable in. Hiring Sarah was such a turning point in my breastfeeding journey and it became so much easier even after just one appointment. You will not find a kinder soul who genuinely cares about you and your baby succeeding in feeding! Hire Sarah, you’ll thank yourself later.”

"Her guidance was life-saving"
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Sarah for help with lactation twice now. With my first son, who was premature, Sarah initially helped with bottle feeding when we came home from the NICU. Her guidance was life-saving as we were new parents with little knowledge of how to feed a preemie baby! She also helped with navigating breastfeeding my son once the pediatrician gave the ok which was challenging for an exclusively bottle-fed baby. Sarah was encouraging the entire process and always made me feel equipped to feed him with confidence.”
